On Wednesday, April 10, Alzheimer’s New Jersey®, the independent, New Jersey non-profit providing continuous hope and support for New Jersey residents battling Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, held their 2019 Annual Gala at The Grove in Cedar Grove, NJ. The Huisking Family, namely Laura Marie Huisking and her father, William “Skip” Huisking (pictured), were recognized as the 2019 gala honorees to thank them for their dedication to the organization and its mission. Laura Huisking, of Hawthorne, NJ, has devoted much of her time to building awareness for Alzheimer’s New Jersey programs dedicated to caregiver education, support and respite throughout the state. William “Skip” Huisking, a former professor at Bergen Community College and former Glen Rock Councilmen, was instrumental in securing a new location for the Northern Regional Walk.
With the theme of “Celebrating New Jersey – We Take Care of Our Own,” pulling inspiration from Bruce Springsteen’s iconic song title, the proceeds raised from this event will directly benefit the 600,000 New Jersey individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
