A Conversation with Rebecca Abenante, LSW and Susan Boyle, DNP from Morristown Medical Center

A hospital stay can be stressful for everyone. For a person with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia, a hospital stay can cause increased confusion, anxiety, agitation and even a decline in cognition. Families are often unprepared when the person with Alzheimer’s needs hospitalization or when the hospitalization is for the primary caregiver.

Join Alzheimer’s New Jersey and guests from Morristown Medical Center, Healthy Aging Coordinator Rebecca Abenante, LSW and Geriatric Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner, Susan Boyle, DNP, for an important conversation about preparing for a hospital stay when a loved one has dementia. From a visit to the emergency room to hospital admission to discharge, Rebecca and Susan will discuss what to expect and will provide tips and strategies for planning ahead to relieve stress and make the hospital experience more manageable.
